The More We Do

Pope Benedict XVI said: “The more we do for others, the more we understand and can appropriate the words of Christ: ‘We are useless servants’ (Lk 17:10). As recognize that we are not acting on the basis of any superiority or grater personal efficiency, but because the Lord has graciously enabled us to do so” (Deus caritas est”)

How different does the worldly people think, many of us are trained to do help people because we are going to get extra credit, or perhaps because it’s gong to look good on our High School Transcript, even others help others so they can be looked upon as nice people. Our Lord in the Gospel of Luke (Lk 17:7-10) tells us “When you have done all you have been commanded say: ‘We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.” Let us reflect on why we help or don’t help others. If we want to be Disciples of Jesus, we do it because we can help! Who can you offer assistance to today? Can you look around and see who needs a smile, a good word, even perhaps in your household, what can you do to assist those around you?

May the Lord open our eyes so we can continue to see that we are blessed without measure and we can be a blessing to others. God Bless you.
